As an Accountant in a Greek Shipping Company, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations, compliance, and reporting requirements specific to the legal provisions set forth by Law N.89/67 in Greece. You will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and supporting the company in achieving its financial objectives.
Key responsibilities:
- Financial Recording and Reporting.
- Tax Compliance.
- Bookkeeping and General Ledger.
- Budgeting and Forecasting.
- Audit and Compliance.
- Legal Compliance.
- Financial Advisory.
- Cooperation with Office Manager locally and the Gard Accounting team globally.
- HR – Payroll.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably within the shipping industry.
- Possession of a valid license to practice as an Accountant from the Economic Chamber of Greece.
- CLASS A holder, allowing the Accountant to independently sign off on financial statements and reports.
- Basic knowledge of salaries and payroll processes.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel or other similar spreadsheet programs, with the ability to create and manipulate complex financial models.
- Familiarity with maritime accounting practices, international maritime regulations, and relevant tax laws.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of working effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Fluency in Greek and English, both written and verbal.
