About our opportunity
As an Investigations Officer, you will provide expert customer service and education within our communities whilst undertaking investigations to resolve a variety of local law and State legislative breaches. This will include leading all matters relating to the technical aspects of the laws, taking enforcement actions and ensuring customer service delivery standards are met. Investigations will primarily be in relation to dog attacks and waste dumping.
You will engage and communicate with a variety of stakeholders, from landowners to residents and community members as well as internal departments to provide high quality advice, direction and solutions.
Other responsibilities will include providing high quality reports and briefs of evidence to management and represent the Council before the Magistrates Court and Tribunals as required.
This role sits within our Customer Response Department which is made up of Local Laws and Public Health streams including Immunisation and Cemeteries, Customer Services and Business Support. Customer response provides front line service delivery and aims to provide a high standard of positive and proactive service experiences. The Department is responsible for servicing and regulating matters on behalf of Council and to work with our community to achieve voluntary compliance.
About you
We are seeking an Investigations Officer who has experience undertaking investigations that have required significant application, interpretation and enforcement of legislation. Experience in animal management will also be highly regarded. You will have proven and effective time management skills and decision-making abilities to be able to work within timeframes and deadlines and within a regulatory team environment.
You will be a strong and influential communicator, well versed will representing in a professional and courteous manner which incorporates our values and delivers service outcomes that meet the needs of a diverse range of audiences.
Whilst it is not essential you are experienced within local government; you will hold a Certificate IV in Government (Investigations or Regulatory Services) or similar discipline and have strong verbal and written skills required to prepare and represent Council at legal proceedings.
